Parks and Resorts- Disney's Hollywood Studios Roundup

What should happen to Disney's Hollywood Studios? This is another red headed step child that is in a state of transition, following two decades of inattention. This park is hurting and has been for quite some time...in terms of scheduling most people really only give it half a day, and it is doubtful that anyone would consider it their favorite park. The history of this park was that it was a rush job in order to compete with Universal. It was designed to be a working movie studio with a backstage tour with minimal attractions. That idea barely got off the ground and in short order, the studio idea was scrapped. Today, the only connection to movie making is the Great Movie Ride and the name "Disney's hollywood studios". This park is a studio just because it is called a studio. There are only a few attractions there in working order and most of them have been there for many years.

What changes need to happen?

Well first of all, I would expect the name change to occur in short order. What will the name be? Probably something to reflect it as more of a theme park; Hollywood experiences etc.

Second, the park is currently in a major redevelopment with the creation of Toy Story Place and with Star Wars land. Is this good? Yes. Is this enough? No. The park still needs an identity, here's what I suggest. Four primary areas

Star Wars land (experience)- Currently this is slated to be a few attractions and a restaurant or too, but there is ample room for expansion in the back of the park. This expansion should continue to make many different environments; Hoth, Dagobah, Endor, etc. In ten years, this should be at least 8 attractions and several restaurants. This also needs to be a FULLY IMMERSIVE environment (i.e. Wizarding World of Harry Potter). Already there is Star Tours.

Toy Story land- I hope this area (now slated as two attractions, in addition to the current Toy Story midway mania) will be given special treatment and have attractions, restaurants, stores, and more. The current Pixar place is really just a name only. Make it also FULLY IMMERSIVE to the guest. Persanally, I think Toy Story by itself is too limiting, I would go with the Pixar Place theme and have any Pixar film be fair game.

Hollywood- This one is mostly build already and can be organized under the umbrella of Hollywood. This would include the Hollywood tower hotel, Rock n' Roller coaster, Great movie ride, a relocated Walt Disney: One man's dream, etc. This is more about being IN the movies or entertainment, not how they are made. Celebrate Hollywood. Update the Great movie ride to more modern movies.

Muppet country- As stated in a previous post, an area devoted to the Muppets with several attractions and two restaurants is needed.

Thoughts?
